Aging OUT LOUD

A ubiquitous call, finally.  At CircleTalk, there is something in the air. Organizations and companies serving older adults are reaching out to us from many directions with the same concern: how can we offer new opportunities for meaningful engagement for our clients, residents and customers? How can we build community and connection?

This month, The Gerontological Society of America and AARP Foundation published a stunning report and compilation of research articles stipulating social isolation as one of the most pernicious problems faced by older adults. Most recent research tells us that more than 8 million people over 50 are socially isolated.

Since 2011, CircleTalk has been solely focused on disrupting social isolation. CircleTalk continues to deliver a thoughtfully designed program and curriculum. Skilled CircleTalk Leaders offer an experience that promotes high engagement through carefully structured conversations.

At last count, 1,456 hours of CircleTalk Circles have taken place and created a space for over 400 older adults to feel what it is like to belong and tell and listen to each others’ stories, ideas and musings on life. We are a solution to this growing epidemic and, at our core, we know that when people connect in meaningful ways, they are happier and healthier.

It’s out there. We know what the problem is. The question is, how will we act on it?
